Non-kilted Salespeople?
Upon returning from a Scottish shop in the area today, I realised the man working in the shop wasn't kilted. While pondering this, it occurred to me that I've never been in a Scottish shop where the employee was kilted!
Has anyone else noticed this? Isn't it a bit like going to a mens' suit shop only to find non-suited employees? Certainly not very good advertising, especially if one wants to promote day-to-day use of a kilt (which would increase sales .

Williamsburg's Scotland House employs at least 2 salesmen who wear kilts on occasion. The saleswomen are more likely to be wearing something with tartan.
It's definitely a good excuse to wear a kilt more often!

We have 2 shops here in Colorado Springs. The one in the mall I have never seen anyone wearing a kilt. At the other one, the owner is often in a kilt. Mostly it will depend on what he has going on that day since he is the only one working there. I have recently heard of another shop but have not been by it yet.

Kilted sales people
The Cairngorm Shop in Toronto has salesmen who often wear a kilt. Does'nt hurt to politely mention it as a marketing tool when visiting.

They're kinda high if you're looking for cheap prices. But the stuff they have is all from Scottish made. Or nearly all. If you were wondering about a specific item, I can make a price check. My best friend lives 3 mins from there and I don't need much encouragement to go window shopping...
P.S. Where in DC are you? Actually in the district? In NoVa? I had a girlfriend who was from Alexandria, and college friends all through the area, so I got to know it pretty well.

At the kilt and whisky shop in San Francisco at least one of the staff is usually in a kilt.
I agree, the best way to sell kilts is by wearing one yourself.
Best regards,
Jake

Sadly I have no kilt shops close to me, and the few I have been to have had women sales clerks.
