fur tassels
Hi everybody. I've started to make a new dress sporran from very soft, shiny and fluffy silver/grey rabbit fur.
My question is, does anybody know, how to make these fur tassels?

Is the fur wrapped arround something and tied together inside the bell?
I whould appreciate any suggetion.

As far as making the metal part, it's hit or miss using what you can find.
Just try to find anything that will look nice and cover the top part of the fur where it joins the chain.
For making the tassel it depends on if you are using long haired fur or short haired.
For long haired, take a rectangle of the fur.
Roll it into a slightly 'off' cylinder so that the bottom is wider than the top.
Take the outside edge and fold it inward so that there is no unsightly hide showing if the tassel turns around.
Glue the edge back on itself so that all you can see when you turn it is fur.
Now find thread the same colour as the fur.
Insert the chain and stitch the furn together at the top and through the first two or three links of the chain.
Once this is secure, put your metal cover over it.
When you are fixing your tassels and chain to the sporran, be sure that the seam of the tassel is laying flat at the back as this will make it less likely for the tassels to turn around.
Good luck!
