Black Flashes question
I may need to attend a funeral, and in honor of the person I will be wearing my Irish National kilt...Should i wear matching flashes or would black be more appropriate? and are white hose ok? i know no hard rules here just looking for oprinions....

At funerals I wear a black tie. I could see black flashes in addition but would caution gainst many little symbols of mourning. If white hose is all you have otherwise wear what hose you'd typically wear.

I agree with Grant here. If you are not a member of the deceased's immediate family be wary of too many tokens of mourning. My advice would also be to wear whatever you normally wear with your Irish National kilt - but add a plain black tie.
Take care,
Ham.

I would wear the flashes that match the kilt as the black flashes really won't tie in with the rest of the outfit. I think white hose are OK, however I may go for darker hose myself.

Oh my gods. Sympathies to you, friend. I say go with as many signs of mourning as you feel comfortable with. Black matches everything, too.

Standard rules of etiquette should apply. If you were not kilted you would wear a dark suit, white shirt and black tie. Kilted would be the same. Dark hose will carry through the "dark suit" theme better than white socks. Standard flashes should be worn.
On a personal note, I think we can all appreciate what a trying time this is for you and your entire family. We'll keep you in our thoughts and our prayers.

I just attended my grandmother's funeral, and I wore my black argyle jacket w. waistcoat, black tie, black hose, and my Gordon kilt with Gordon flashes. It looked pretty nice.

So sorry for your loss, mom's are hard to loose. I would say wear whatever you think your mother would have liked to see you wear. Was she a formal or informal person. You are going there to honor her.
the pain will subside but the good memories will remain.
