Modded Black Kilt Jacket and belt
This is the Set up I wore to Burns night in Cincy. I posted the outfit originally in the Kilt Advise section to see what folks thought of the Xkilt I made as a formal and semi formal alternative. I got the Jacket at the local Goodwill for $2.50. Only took about 20 minutes or so to modify.
I know Black on black might be hard to see but this is what I got.

Also, here's the sporran belt I made from a small womans belt found at Walmart for $7 and a few extra parts. I like it cause it's reversable.
Black inlay side
All metal side.

I really like that sporran belt. I read somewhere about someone seeing a guy with a fancy belt that had felt on the back as to not tear up his kilt. Does anyone know of how this is done? (Not attempting to hijack the thread, BTW)

Very handsome jacket - could that be the "Selkirk" cut-away I see before my eyes?

You know, now that you've done an X-Kilt, what is keeping you from buying some wool or wool blend cloth in solid black and making exactly the same thing as an X-Kilt but with a full-width apron?
BTW, the cutaway jacket looks even better than the full-length

I'd like to but it's hard to find at the local fabric stores.

I know that a quilting store in Michigan that my Mama frequents carried very nice 100% wool fabric, 60" wide, for about $10/yd. Not that all quilt shops do this, but it is something to inquire about.

Looks sharp! I love the black on black look. Black is my favourite (non)colour.
