Matt Newsome Ulster Red Box Pleat
Yesterday when I got home from work there was a box for me, inside was my new kilt, kilt number 13 in my modest collection. I was lucky in that Woodsheal was selling this kilt and it was very close to my size. I contacted him immediately and said I was very interested providing the length was right, well it is. I put it on yesterday and quite surprised in the difference to the feel of a 4 yard box as compared to the 8 yard knife pleated kilt I was wearing at work. It feels very comfortable and light as it is only half the yardage it really is joy to wear.
I know I did not purchase directly form Matt for this one, I am however on the waiting list for two more. I have to say if you have not seen one of these in person they are amazing I really like the way the straps are set up. Wearing a box pleated kilt really is different than the knife pleated variety, I am sure I'll get lots of wear from it. I think everyone should have at least one box pleat in their collection.
So to the pictures:

Looks sharp...especially with the hose you selected. I am also a proud owner of a Newsome Box Pleat and agree wholeheartedly. It is a pleasure to own.
I always thought the Ulster Tartan was nice, but seeing with a proper jacket and hose really tempts me to add it to my list. Cheers!

Fabulous! Did you wear it to SCD class and if so what was the reaction?
Cheers

No I did not make it last night as there was a wee problem with my car, I'll be sorted out for next week, and let you know what the reactions are.

It looks wonderful, and so glad it has stayed in the "family."

Looks really good. I had seen it "close up" at the Binghamton kilt night. Knew it was a wonderful kilt, but you wear it so well. And, of course, I agree with all you say about Matt's box-pleats.

That's a really beautiful tartan Glen!
I don't have a box pleat yet but I intend to!
