I have to speak at a work related convention in Edinburgh in early June and, being of Scots-Irish descent on my first trip back to the homeland, have jumped headfirst into the kilted world by purchasing three quality wool kilts, Argyll and Crail coats and vests, and all manner of matching accoutrements scottish, with the intent of spending two weeks in Scotland wearing kilts on a nearly daily basis (not if my wife has anything to say about it). I even got one for my soon to be newborn son (being induced tonite). I plan on wearing my outfits in various combinations for both day and evening wear when I have to lecture and attend both formal and less formal evening activities, as well as when touring the town and countryside.

I have an opportunity to play a round or two of golf at St Andrews, one on the Old Course, the birthplace of golf and the oldest golf course in the world. Is it appropriate to do so wearing a kilt, kilt hose, matching county cap and an appropriately coordinated shirt/sweater with my mandatory golf shoes, etc.? I will test out my swing (both golf club and kilt) here at a driving range before making the final decision, but has anyone got any ideas or advice for me?
