That's not "The Question" I was expecting...
Friday, one of my wife's clients had a wedding reception at the top of the Columbia Tower here in Seattle. She suggested I wear my kilt.
After I picked my jaw up off the ground, I readily agreed.
After meeting a few people, we sat down at our table. We made small talk with the others there. Finally, one guy looked a little sheepish and said, "Do you mind if I ask you a question?"
Here it comes, thought I.
"What do your parents think about the Scottish Unification issue?"
"................."
I could here the potential responses to the "expected question" derail in my head like an Amtrack in winter.
It lead into a rather interesting conversation, but the point is you just never know what question the kilt will invite.

Can't say I've ever got that question, but it sure is a nice change.

Streetcar,
Kilted in a tartan of any kind has meant keeping current on sports and politics in Scotland and Britain. Many surprising questions have arisen.
Kilted in a self colour, keeps the questions to this side of the pond. Various punk bands, the Red Sox, and the weather.
Any type of kilt will get me asked if I am from Scotland. So I wear the kilt so as to be respectful of its Scottish origins.

You should have pointed at your kilt and said..."Well, We Scots aren't too keen on being devided!"

Out shopping with my wife one time wearing a Amerikilt ( solid color casual of course) and a guy asks "Is that a kilt?"
Ahh yeah (thinking what does he think it is)
Next question "Scot or Irish?"
Some days there is just no hope for the lost.

LOL. That's great. I'm sure it took you a moment or two to collect yourself from a question that wasn't expected at all. A nice change though.

Don't you just love what wearing the kilt can get you into sometimes?
Great story.
