    Hose again

I was wondering if anyone would know of mid priced hose (25-30 $) that would fit large calves, mine are 18 and 1/2 inch at the largest part. I would like a nice roll down at the top. I do have one pair and when I tried them on well they don't look the same. Thanks.

Big calves are my burden as well. 19"

For a great budget sock, Hamilton Dry Goods has a nice cotton knee sock that serves well as a kilt sock and will give you a nice thick cuff.
    http://www.hamiltondrygoods.com/sock.html

They also sell a nice cable knit sock kilt hose in several colors. They can be found on Ebay as well but I usually just call them and get the same deal over the phone.

It's good to also give them a call as they may have socks in stock that are not on their web site.

Next step would be the piper hose like these,

Several vendors carry them and they come in a handful of colors. These are my preferred daily sock. 70% wool 30% nylon. Thick so you can't see the leg through the sock and they have a very thick cuff that is more decorative. $35

A little higher than these will be hose like the Scottish Tartan Museum carries http://giftshop.scottishtartans.org/hose.htm but you'll need to get the Fully-Fashioned to allow for your calves.

After that you can contact Freedom Kilts for a pair of his Heritage hose. They come in several colors and are made using an old rotary machine of some sort I believe.

From there, you go to hand or custom made hose. I doubt you'll find them in the $30 dollar range and if you do, I'd not risk buying them
