Collections - of a Scottish/Kilt nature.

Since …this… thread has migrated to collecting off-beat stuff from different historical places, it entered into my off-net conversation as well.

I have a friend who is heavily into Civil War re-enacting, and he showed me his collection of historical weeds (pressed into plastic document protectors) that he has collected from all the sites that they have had battle do-overs. He includes a short bio on the site, and his part in it and then the pressed weed. He now has three big three ring binders, that are fun to look through.

This got me to thinking of the different stuff that people collect.

Does anyone have a Scottish or kilt related collection?

I'm not talking kilts here - we all want to have a huge kilt collection to rival Hamish...... But has anyone collected different or unusual things relating to kilts?

I think kilt pins would be something worth collecting. I have about a 2:1 ratio of kilt pins to kilts. Just can't seem to have too many kilt pins...

I also have 4 sgian dubhs. (2) dress, one with a green (gailic themes) and one with a yellow stone (Nowill), (1) casual cheapo and (1) hand made solid wood.

I am working on a collection of sgian dubh. I have made most myself (since that is what I do/am, a bladesmith), but the current pride of the crop was made by Jake Cleland on Skye. I have been watching out for antique kilt pins that are cool, but haven't found anything that moves me to the point of purchase yet.

I did have a collection of StillWater shipping boxes... But I threw them all away. I was going to use them as a mulch layer in the garden to keep the weeds from growing...

BTW, I used to collect stones from everywhere I went, kind of like the guy with the weeds. I polished some of them.
