    Ireland's National in SLC

I had a great time on Saturday!
I wore my Ireland's National tartan (USAK) to work and had a great time answering questions about the tartan (not so many questions about the kilt since I wear one here about once a month), then went to dinner at McCools, an Irish (so to speak) pub and restaurant here in Salt Lake. Everyone but everyone was locked on me like a laser beam! The gal at the door said "Way cool!" and gave me a high five. One of the waiters said "that's what I'm talking about!!". Even just getting in and out of the place was a hoot. It's right across from a theatre and everyone was looking and pointing (in a good way).
Wrapped it all up with an evening of watching Irish Dancing at a local high school only to come out and find 2 inches of snow on the ground.
The kilt handled it all with ease!
A grand day to be kilted
Oh, and I got to show off my new torc from Celtic Croft too!
It don't mean a thing, if you aint got that swing!!

    Most cool.

I wore my Ireland's National USA Kilts semi-trad yesterday too...just a ways south of you.

I got two wolf whistles, one at the supermarket, one at the post office. Sounded like guys so I ignored them.

Got a big thank you for wearing the kilt on St. Patrick's day from a lady of Irish ancestry at last night's local AA meeting.

Most folks around here are used to seeing me kilted so that's a big day for me.

But how cool is it that from the top of Utah to the bottom of Utah the Ireland's National prevailed?

It is interesting how some people get trainied very quickly. I've been wearing my kilt to work/school every Friday for the past 4-5 months and my students now expect it. So when I wore my Irish National Monday for St. Patrick's Day, they all started to say, "Hey Mr. M why the kilt, it's not Friday?" Of course I took off with a small mini-lesson from there. It was a great day. I'm still trying to figure out how to wear the kilt to the feed and stock co-op down the road.
