    Dancing la Bourrée

We were in Italy a few days ago and the folks there wanted me to give them a little Bourrée masterclass !

So here we go. We started with a little French piping to get into the mood. These French Bagpipes are called a musettes. They are in "G". They reach an octave and a half; From G to high C. They have 2 drones.

The Bourrée is a French traditional dance in 2 lines.

Men on one side, ladies on the other.

After going back and forth twice with the bourrée step, we cross.... This is when some folks generaly get mixed up !

Once on the opposite side, we cross again with a fancy little swing but NO jumping : enery step should be slip & slide !

    Nice and slick . Steady.

The thing is with the bourrée, as you may have noticed, couples dont touch each other.

Everything is going on in the glances, the smiles...

That's why it's so important to look at your partner, not at your feet : but that's a must with all dances, right ?

Everything should go perfectly well ... until your own wife just can't resist any longer and... well... just check out the next picture !

Yes, this shocking gesture is from , who would have thunk it ? Lady Chrystel herself !

    hope you enjoyed,

    Robert

While spelled slightly differently, bourre' is a card game of chance in South Louisiana. A game that I've had mixed luck with (due to no skill).

What fun Robert! But who can blame Lady Crystal, the excitement of the dance with the kilted man!
