Petersburg, VA
I suppose this counts as a night out in a kilt! First overnight event for Muskets of the Crown, (www.muskets-of-the-crown.org) we'll be doing 42nd at Petersburg, VA the weekend of Apr. 18, 19, 20. It recreates the battle (yes, Rev. War....not Civil War) of 1781. Although the 42nd was not present for the battle....WE WILL for 2008. It's held at Battersea Plantation on the edge of town which was the headquarters of British General Phillips, who died of wounds from this battle. I'll head down Friday morning (18th) and be kilted by the afternoon after we get some tentage up. Usually this reenactment will draw about 50 British and 75+ Colonials. Not a big event, but it's fun and a nice site. About 15 of us kilted lads will be in attendance. Slainte' Malcolm

Do you camp out the weekend in your tents, Malcolm or have an orderly retreat to a local motel to enjoy the comforts of home?

I was part of the Civil War reenactments in the 60's and know you will have an enjoyable weekend.

Mael....no motelers in our bunch, in fact, almost all Rev. War, F and I War (I expect Civil War also) reenactors tent the whole weekend they are at an event. In our unit it is frowned on heavily if you decide to motel it. Anyone is welcome to come visit us if you live in the area. And once we hit camp on Fridays, we are in kilts until Sunday when we leave (and some of us stay in kilt to drive home....). Malcolm

Right, Malcolm I thought that would be the case. I've put you on my calendar. I'll see if I can run the line with some "provisions."

Your group has ticonderoga's 250'th and fortress louisbourg on the schedule. Will you be at either event? I have both planned..
Ticonderoga will be a 'Black Watch party', and with the snow finely gone, work on the french lines is progressing well.

alikws.....Aye, I'll be at both......I usually don't miss any of the events cause I'm the mover and shaker to get the events on the calendar. What unit are you with? I'll arrive on Thursday at Ti with most everyone's tents in my truck so we can camp together as 77th Grenadiers. Malcolm
