Listing of Kilted Units in the Great War?

Anyone know of a listing of all the regiments of the Empire (Britain, Canada, Australia, etc.) that wore kilts in combat?

A friend of mine is a "Great War" buff and pointed me to this thread on another forum. Hope that helps.

Now there is a question. Not only do you have Highland Regiments and colonial Scottish Regiments but you also have Scottish companies within colonial units such as the Hong Kong Volunteer Defence Force, Singapore Volunteer Corps or the Shanghai Volunteers or even Scottish platoons such as in the Malay States Volunteer Rifles.

See: http://www.scotclans.com/scottish_cl...ental_tartans/ which is as extensive as I've ever seen but even I can see there are some missing.

    http://www.malayanvolunteersgroup.org.uk/history.asp

and then you've got regiments like the 79th New York Volunteers http://scotsatwar.co.uk/AZ/79nyvolunteers.htm ungrateful rebellious colonials rather than part of the Empire.

I think it will be a big project track them all down identify their dates roles ORBATS and badges and uniforms - lets get started!
The 'Eathen in his idleness bows down to wood and stone,
'E don't obey no orders unless they is his own,
He keeps his side arms awful,
And he leaves them all about,
Until up comes the Regiment and kicks the 'Eathen out.

I haven't had a chance to reply to this query, but I would add:

    http://www.tartansauthority.com/Web/...talTartans.asp

Obviously this list covers more than just the First World War, but it is fairly extensive, but brief -- for a more detailed look at Scottish units, I highly recommend the Scottish Military Historical Society:

    http://www.scottishmilitaryresearch.org.uk/page8.htm

Unfortunately, I see that T.F. Mills' excellent web site about British Commonwealth regiments, regiments.org, is currently down. I hope it will be restored soon, as it has a fairly extensive list of regimental tartans as well.

The old wiki version of Canadian Soldiers also has a good article on tartans of the Canadian forces:

    http://www.canadiansoldiers.com/medi...?title=Tartans

And a very nice article on Canadian glengarries:

    http://www.canadiansoldiers.com/medi...itle=Glengarry

Finally, they have a good article on the Scottish military tradition in Canada:

    http://www.canadiansoldiers.com/medi...hland_Regiment

For Aussie/Kiwi information, Digger History is a treasure-trove of information:

    Regards,

    Todd

    According to http://www.militarybadges.info/canada/:

    There were 28 Canadian Highland Battalions in World War I: 13, I5, 16, 17, 42, 43, 67, 72, 73, 85, 92, 96, 105, 113, 134, 154, 173, 174, 179, 185, 193, 194, 219, 231, 236, 241, 246, 253. The 67th Western Scots wore Glengarries but were not kilted.
