A friendly reminder, the state of things as I see them
When I come to X-Marks the Scot I do so because I enjoy the banter, the camaraderie, the fact that I am not the only man on the planet who
chooses this way to dress. However of late and perhaps this is with my newly acquired moderators not so rose coloured glasses,
there have been posts that generally go against what it is we strive to have in our little corner of the web, that is a forum we can let our children, or our mothers read, some of these the members have not, and will not see.
I'm not sure about the rest of the members but I am proud to call this forum my home on the web, I am proud that with such a large group the problems
are relatively minor. I am also proud that when I am out and someone is looking for more information on kilt wearing I can point them our way without
even thinking that they may find something untoward, or disturbing, frankly there is enough of that all over the web as it is a
respite no matter how brief is indeed welcome.
I have been lucky enough to meet some of the members of the forum, and I hope to be able to meet many more as years go by, however if I were to be crass, or rude when I post here I wonder how many members would be glad to meet me. I've seen it said numerous times before the we are collectively the
Ladies and Gentlemen of X-Marks the Scot, please remember this before you hit the submit button, it is just as easy to hit delete and rethink what you are saying,
I have had to that very thing myself from time to time.
Thank you for your time.

As with many things in life, our enthusiasm sometimes causes altered vision. Glen, Mike1 and Jamie, it is appreciated when you, in your most tactful way, gently guide us back to the right path.

Yes sir you are spot on thank you for the gentle reminder, and thank you and the other mods on a job well done. One that is not easy or even wanted by everyone. Lord knows I don't want to be in your shoes.

Sometimes the best thing you can do to a post (thread) that you strongly don't agree with is to just pass it by and remember that everyone has his own opinion of what is the proper/best way to do something. I run into the samething on other boards, and Xmarks and one of the Boy Scout pages seem to be the best at remaining civil and courteous through disagreements. Nice to be see such behavior these days, doesn't happen nearly enough in the world IMHO.
BTW thanks mods for all your hard (and thankless) work.

Often the wisest course is to do or say nothing at all. The power of stillness, or the action of inaction, is quite frequently underestimated. Both to do no harm, and sometimes, even to do good.
Internet bulletin boards share much in common, no matter the subject matter at hand. Indeed any collection of human beings gathered in common share certain attributes. We should all rejoice in the thought that there are relatively less troubles here than in many other places.
It takes individual effort, and the bearing of personal responsibility to do your part to make it happen. Each one does make a difference. Apathy and despair are the enemy.

I remain amazed that this board remains as civil and family freindly as it does...though I have noticed a drift towards more zingers and harsh response...nothing too fearsome...but still there.
Would hate to have this incredible resource lost.
Gotta be tiring for the moderators. Appreciate the work you do...even when its me being pulled over to the right path.
