    Afloat in Clan Cameron country

Last week I spent a splendid day afloat on Loch Arkaig in the heart of Clan Cameron Country.Loch Arkaig is about 14 miles long,2 miles wide and is reputed to be over 1000ft deep in parts.During WW2 this and surrounding hills was the training ground for the Commandos and American Rangers.Live ammunition was used at all times for training,it is very unwise to pick up "interesting" bits of metal.

Looking up the loch towards Glen Dessarry with the hills of North Morrar in the far dim distance.

    Caledonian forest.

    Spring trying to arrive.

Looking down the loch towards Achnacarry and the hills of Glen Gloy beyond.

Super pics, I've driven along the road which follows the north shore but never sailed on Loch Arkaig. Hoping to be up that way again in July.

Yes we were fishing for brown trout and yes we caught half a dozen, none weighing more than a pound. They are all swimming around the loch again. The loch used to hold the British record for rod caught brown trout, until recently,it weighed a tad over 20 lbs.
