Wikipedia Help!
I was looking at wkipedia and stopped to see if anything interesting had been added to the Kilt heading and saw that the link to X Marks the Scot was no longer there.
If anyone here regularly contributes to Wikipedia could you put another link.

Wikipedia has some editors with some funky practices. They will not include certain entries because they aren't 'famous', as in they are only self referential. It was a big stink with webcomics having their wiki pages deleted because the editors thought they weren't famous enough.
Things like websites often fall to that same editors broom. Unless you are referenced by some other mainstream source (like a newspaper or magazine) merely having a reach in the tens of thousands on the internet is not enough.

Not that I don't think XMTS is worthy of mention... but linking to a forum such as this may be against Wikipedia policies. (A lot of this stuff is considered "linkspam" I believe.) I'm not sure if our forum would specifically violate this rule, but I know a LOT of these links are removed for that or other reasons--even though the sites referenced are handy in a lot of cases, in other cases they really are spam and Wikipedia has made some policies that may, at times, throw out the baby with the bathwater.

Hmm… I don't see one now… perhaps it got removed again?

It appears that someone is getting a bit pissy with the links. There might be a bit of a fight over this.

The Wikipedia guidelines for external linking are at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:EL
Under "Links normally to be avoided" it includes "10. Links to social networking sites (such as MySpace or Fan sites), discussion forums/groups (such as Yahoo! Groups), USENET newsgroups or e-mail lists".
I believe this is the reason it is being removed.
It was removed by user "Bridies", who quoted "(forums/fansites)" in their notes.

That's too bad. I'm the one who linked X Marks originally.
It's sad, a lot of links used to be provided, but now there are only three there...
