DrumShow (from Nova Scotia)
I was just chaperoning a field trip for my first grader. They were at the Ordway Center in Saint Paul, MN for the Flint Hills Children's Festival. Today's show was Drum (www.drumshow.ca)
It was quite enjoyable and lasted about an hour. It showcased rhythms and music of four cultures from Nova Scotia: aboriginal, black, celtic, and French. They had several drummers, dancers, singers, and other musicians.
Squid (www.tastysquid.com) formed the core of the drummers. During the celtic portion, they had a piper. I always enjoy listening to the pipes. The piper was Hector MacQuarrie, and from what little I know about piping, seemed quite good. I couldn't hear the drones, though, and I'm figuring that was most likely due to the venue, or they had them stopped so they didn't interfere / be out of tune with the other instruments.
From what I could see, he was wearing a kilt in the MacQuarrie tartan (I had to look it up - it's a simple tartan, but I like it). He had a few quick changes (pants to kilt to pants to kilt) during the show, though not as many as the dancers (they had about 7 or 8 changes).
If you have the opportunity to see the group, it's enjoyable. I would listen to them again.

I had Squid's web address incorrect. It is http://www.tastysquid.com/. Sorry about that. (Corrected in the first post, too)
