NEW KILT - Puffer
I just got a new kilt from Jerry @ SWK. ( Standard Kilt )
I am VERY impressed, with the kilt. I was somewhat apprehensive about getting it. I have never worn an inexpensive "acrylic" kilt & the ones I have seen, left (IMHO) allot to be desired. NOT this one. Everything about this kilt exceeded my expectations. ( workmanship, quality of the material, fit ( Jerry made it longer for me ) ETC.)
Thank you Jerry for providing a GREAT KILT in this price range.

The tartan is a "WEATHERED MACKENZIE"
Here are some pics of the kilt
Note the 3"pleats & the good size straps & buckles.
Here is a pic of some detail
As to pics of me wearing it, that will have to wait until next weekend, when I wear it for an event

Congrats. I recently purchased my second SWK Standard from Jerry and I love it.

How would yall rank a SWK standard to a USAK Casual? Becuz I can't decide between the two.

I'm guessing from the pictures that this is the Standard kilt rather than the Economy kilt. It looks great. I have two heavyweight wool and one Thrify kilt and I love them.

I have an SWK Standard and find the workmanship and comfort great, it helps that my kilt length for this style is 24", which is his standard for adult kilts. I like the Weathered McKenzie in the picture, and will be ordering one later tonight, if it is available in my some what large size.
I have a USAK Semi traditional made by Rocky, the material is Polyviscous, as is used in the Casual line. I found the USAK Semi-traditional to have a nice feel to it, it hangs well, and the swish factor is very close to a traditional kilt. The SWK Standard is 100% Acrylic, and has nice pleats, is well constructed, and has decent swish. Both the USAK Semi-traditional and the SWK Standard have three buckle closure, double fringed front apron, and sewn down fell.
Comparing the USAK Casual is different as the Casual uses a velcro closure, similiar to the SWK Thrifty. I have an SWK Thrifty, it is also 100% Acrylic, and it makes an OK around the house and garden kilt. The Thrifty does not have the fell sewn down, and does not taper for the hips resulting in it being confused for a gathered skirt on occasion. I do not have a USAK Casual yet, but feel from the description on Rocky's website that it would be superior to the SWK Thrifty, but not in the same league as the SWK Standard/ USAK Semi-traditional.
As of last night the USAK site was experiencing technical difficulties, and should be up soon, if not already. Then I can get a Casual on the way.
To be fair to you, I am partial to Rocky and Kelley's wares as they are made here in the USA, and made to measure. The wait is worth it IMHO.
For an instant kilt, Jerry is the way to go as delivery is by molecular transport to your door.

Puffer,
I have two Stillwater Standards and really think that they are a good value for the money. My SWK Standard Hunting Mcleod has been worn dancing, hiking, in a Live Action Role Playing game, just hither and yon for two years and it has held up very well indeed. I have worn it where I would never dream taking my traditionally made handsewn kilts.
Speaking of which, I am going to move your thread from the "Traditional Kilts" forum to the "General Kilt Talk" forum. Jerry packs a lot of value into his product but at the price point he offers his kilts must be machine stitched and are going to have some construction details that are different from a tradional handsewn kilt.
I'm sure that Jerry V. himself would agree that your review fits better here.
Cheers
Jamie
