Saturday Happenings...
I went shopping at an Outlet mall in Vero, Florida with my with on Saturday. I went kilted. On this day I received the most attention ever while out. Within 5 minutes of being in a shoe store I had a guy and his wife run up to me and ask me where I got my kilt. I told him and he said that his son has been wanting one for a very long time. I gave him the address of several vendors from here as well as this forums web address to pass along to his son. They stood and talked to me about the kilt for awhile. Unfortunately, the length of time they talked to me about the kilt was not long enough for my wife to finish up in the shoe store.
Next store when walking with my wife towards the fitting rooms, and the benches for the men, the two teenage fitting room associates noticed the kilt. The young man blurted out "Now, that is something you don't see everyday! Sir, THAT is cool!" As my wife tried on clothes the young associates talked to me about the kilt and other things such as Rambo movies.
Heading into another store to get socks I was approached by one of the sales people there. There were three older (late 50's and up) running the place. Well, one approached to tell me she "loved the skirt". I smiled at her and said "thanks, but it's a kilt." She apologized so quickly, "I meant kilt. I can't believe I made that mistake. I am so sorry." I told her not to be sorry that it was an innocent mistake. She wasn't trying to raz me, she just chose the wrong terminology. Anyways, we began chatting while I was looking around and the other older ladies got into it about how nice it looks and so forth. So finally, one got curious and asked her friends "So, should I ask the question?" I knew what was coming. I got a big smile. One lady had no idea what the question was, and the other two quickly explained it. She giggled. Before she asked I said "Go ahead and ask. But beware, for the answer is different depending on the company and in how it is asked." I winked. Well, she informed me that she was not afraid of the answer. So she proceeded loudly, "What's under the kilt?" I looked down and said, "well, socks and boots of course!" They were satisfied with that answer. I think they blushed a bit. It was fun.
All in all it was a great fun day. I received some other attention. Mostly in the form of ladies looking my way and smiling. I got a few I think my wife may have not liked. Haha. I think I may have gotten a few confused looks, mainly from little children, in which I am sure the parents had to explain "why that man is wearing a skirt". It was a fun day. Very comfortable too.

My favorite responses are the young children who look at you confused. and ask why your wearing a dress. hehe.
sounds like a good day out!
you might even convince the wife to go shopping more often if this is what happens.

Your Wife will get into the great Kilt question. Mine allways tells them to be careful because I have all the answers to that question but I still get good replies from Xmarks from time to time.

Yeah, I love those as well. It's the pure childhood innocence that makes my day. Also, another fun part is watching the parents scramble embarrassed to correct the children as if the kids said something wrong.
