    Sock question

    Hey all,

I'm about to pick up a kilt in the clergy tartan and wondering what color socks to wear with it. It seemed that black, light blue or navy blue seem to be the primary colors in the kilt. Anyone with pictures so I can compare?

    Thanks,
    R. Anderson

I have a photo of myself in it in the "Dressy" thread.

    Cream colored would also work.

I don't own the tartan--yet, at least--but navy, black, or lovat blue would all work. If you wear a collar, you may want to match the color of the cloth on your shirt. I think if I were wearing a black or gray clerical shirt I'd go with the black hose.

But that's me. I think the cream colored might be a bit too "bright" for the clergy, but I don't know your proclivities. Seems to me that the hose would kind of stick out.

Goes great with navy and black. If the creamy is really creamy, it can clash horribly with the white stripes.

    With black hose

Not the greatest picture but you can see how a clergy tartan looks with black hose (and a black argyle jacket, black clergy shirt, and a black and silver schnauzer ). I have a pair of cream hose too but personally I think they look awful with it since the white and cream don't match (so no pics of them).

I vote for the black hose. I feel it adds a little dignity to the tartan.

I usually wear black kilt hose with mine. Although mine is a USAK SemiTrad.

    Personally I like lovat blue.

This is what I wore to officiate a wedding in Phoenix. (Please no comments on the shoes- my brogues were stuck in customs, and I didn't have the time to get anything else- long story. No one there noticed, but it drove me nuts.)
