Tenative Nor-Cal Make a Kilt Weekend
Last weekend in October.
**the first weekend in October is the Ben Lomond Games..out
**the second weekend is the Seaside Games in Ventura (hope to go, and compete and meet Yaish)...out
**I'm up in Portland for a conference the third weekend...out
...which leaves the fourth weekend, Saturday October 24th. Added Extra Benefit: If you come in for the weekend, you'll get to hang out with the Nor Cal Rabble at Beer and Kilts night at the Devils Canyon Brewery on Friday the 24th. You've seen the pics, you've salivated over the beer goddesses. Now, Live the Dream.
However, we could move the weekend into the first or second weekend in November. I'm easy.
Here's the plan. I will find a "place"...probably my church's fellowship hall. We set up tables and bring in sewing machines. We meet at 7:00 AM  and start laying out fabric and sewing. The goal? By 7:00 PM you will have a machine-sewn casual kilt...tartan pleated to stripe, or solid or camouflage, done and ready to hit the town on Saturday night. You can make a casual, unlined lightweight knife-pleated kilt or an X-Kilt. If you don't quite finish, you'll be so close that you can finish it in one or two evenings when you get home.
We will have **cough** experts on hand to help. I think.... You gotta bring your own fabric and your own sewing machine, though I won't be making one that day so ONE person can borrow my old singer straight-stitch. I will provide coffee and rubber chicken floggings for motivation and of course, photographs to show to your grandchildren.
Plan now.
Pipe up if you have 'druthers about the dates.
