Kilts Take Center Stage at Wimbledon
I ran across this while having my coffee this morning and thought I would share it ....
By AMMU KANNAMPILLY
LONDON, June 23, 2008,
It's that time of the year again in London, England, when tennis fans will make their way to the grass courts at Wimbledon, armed with bowls of strawberries and cream, and dressed in kilts. That's right, the Scottish tartan is set to be the outfit du jour for many British fans, here to cheer on the national hope, Scotsman Andy Murray, seeded 12th ....

That is what it said! Maybe they (we) are the only ones who know how to dry clean a kilt?
I never understood why they call it "Dry" cleaning and use "Dry Cleaning" fluid.
By definition, isn't a fluid wet? Sure, I know that they don't use water, but if you dunk a towell down into a bucket of gasoline, isn't it wet? Or is water the only thing that can wet things?

Defending champion, Roger Federer, who, during a discussion of his sartorial choices on Sunday, said, "Look, I'm not going to wear a skirt. And I'm not Scottish so I'm not going to wear a kilt, either."
Wow, you don't have to be a jerk about it Roger. But hey, he is an all around nice guy at heart, so I'll let this one slide. He can't help he's not man enough to wear a kilt, but then again I'm not man enough to win as much as he has, so who am I to talk????

Gentlepeople,
The American Dry Cleaning Company is a franchise program started in the U.S. in the 1950's. The franchise in London opened in 1990 and has been an instant success. The primary operation of the franchises is serving the hospitality industry. If you stay at a hotel that offers clothes cleaning service, the chances are great that American Dry Cleaning is doing the work. They have lorries picking up customer garments in the evening and returning them by morning. They also provide uniform cleaning service to many industrial, and restaurant locations. It would not surprise me that the Bobbies have theirs taken care of by this company as well.
"Dry Cleaning" at one time involved a dry powder applied to the garment, that was then vacuumed or steamed clean. Since then a period of cleaning with perchlorethylene was used, until the chemical was banned as hazardous to the environment. In many shops there are a variety of cleaning methods in use to effect cleanliness on the many varieties of fabrics, both natural and man made that come their way.

I am sure I have seen a photo of him kilted, Trefor, but when he was a child!
That really does not count as most Scottish boys are kilted at some time in their young lives - even if only for a day at a wedding!
Take care,
Ham.

I can see it now ... the Tartan Army will now be attending Wimbledon in mass.
