Ever wonder?
I used to wonder what I do if a situation arose where I saw someone being attacked. Would I intervene, or would I stand back and call for help. Well, the other day, I found out. I work at Wal-mart, in the automotive department, two young punks came to the store looking for one of my co-workers. They found him in one of the aisles of my department, and attacked him, punching and knocking him down and kicking him. I had only a couple of seconds to decide, but I stepped right in and stood over him telling them to both leave him alone and to leave the store. The "lead" instigator asked me "do you want some of this old man?" he then attempted to push me away using both of his hands against my chest. Now, I am not a small man, 5ft 10in tall and about 280lbs. So, his push did not do much. The two punks were escorted from the store by a group of us and the police were called. So now I know what I would do, and I feel more at ease with myself in all kinds of situations.

Wow, Good story and it is always better to know that you will take a stand.
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Sure hope someone doesn't offer the suggestion that you might've been hurt for doing what was clearly the right thing.
I've been in the same situation more than once and I've always stood right by my friend.
Somewhere in Leviticus I believe, it states that you shall not stand by while your neighbor bleeds.

"Evil will triumph if good men do nothing" --- Edmund Burke
I am a veteran of an ugly armed conflict. I have no fear of stepping up to the plate for what is right. Whether I know the person or not. Until fairly recently, I was a four minute miler at 6' 1" and 140 Lbs. Speed made up for the lack of size in many situations here in the city. Now I have the size,190 lbs, but not the speed . I still can control a very big punk on occasion, then hand him over to the local law enforcement officer.
You certainly acted correctly for yourself, for your employer, and for your co-worker.

Good for you. I'm that kind of guy too. Someone's got to stand for those that can't stand for themselves. You should be proud of your actions.

I have 2 words for situations like that: KRAV MAGA
Been practicing it for a couple of years now, and it is a fantastic way of instantly dealing with this kind of unwanted body contact.
Good for you to stand by someone being attacked.
So far I've only had to defend myself, and I often wonder the same as you, would I step up if someone else was being attacked.
Your insight is precious.
