Heading to Toronto
Some of you may recall that I mentioned an upcoming trip to Toronto, ON and asked for tips. Well, the trip is near. We leave on Thursday and, after a stop at a friend's place in western NY, we'll cross into the Great White North on Friday morning.
We've got tix to the Yanks-Jays game on Friday, plan to see the CN tower, plan to take a sailboat cruise on Lake Ontario and I'm hoping to talk the Mrs. into going to Medieval Times for the dinner and show.
There's probably time on Saturday to squeeze in one more adventure. Any recommendations? We don't care about shopping. I'm considering both the Royal Ontario Museum and the zoo, though the zoo is probably out because we'd rather do it with our kids, who are in the Czech Republic this week.
Something inexpensive would be good.

I hope you have a wonderful time in Toronto, I will be crossing into New York state on Friday or possibly Saturday Morning depending on timing, as for something in-expensive to do in Toronto there really are a lot of options, you could go to the ROM, the Darwin exhibit is on, one I'd like to see myself, and the Dinosaur hall will be opened again, I suppose it was undergoing restoration or something.
Here is a link to events for the 13th-19th

If you like architecture, Casa Loma is an interesting tour. Very beautiful and high tech for its time.

Here are ten things to do in Toronto that are free.
Toronto Harbour Tours offers one hour tours of - you guessed it - Toronto harbour. There's a buy one get one free coupon here.
Toronto Hippo Tours provide 90 minute amphibious tours of the main tourist attractions. You can save 10% with this coupon.
Depending on your sense of adventure, and continuing the theme of waterfront activities, Harbourfront Canoe and Kayak Centre offers canoe and kayak rentals and instruction. You can paddle across to Toronto Island. The city also has regular ferry service.
I hope you enjoy your stay in Toronto.

If comedy is your thing, there's Second City.
If you really, really like shoes try the Bata Shoe Museum.
Sports fan? How about the Hockey Hall of Fame?
A cool place to walk around (but it does include shopping) is the Distillery District.
Looking for good food cheap? Enjoy gourmet, fixed-price meals at some of Toronto's best restaurants during Summerlicious. Be sure to book before you leave to ensure availability.

Thanks guys! Rob, your info is great. I'd be all over a kayak trip. My wife, not so much.
I'll run all this stuff by Mrs. C. tonight.

I'd strongly suggest not doing the zoo in this heat as it is so spread out. 'Yaking in T.O. Harbour sounds fun poking in and out of the islands but be warned they can get quite a chop going on open water. I curious as to what happend to the Rochester-Toronto ferry.

Agreed on both counts. If that ferry had succeeded, we'd probably be taking it.
