The Amazing Power of the Tank

The Amazing Power of the Tank

Last night I went to a dance at Cold Springs Resort in Hamilton, IN. The dance hall is about 1 / 4 acre of hardwood dance floor that was built after of post WWII. Typically, the dances at this semi-open air building next to Hamilton Lake have bands playing music from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. I am usually there will friends, but last night I was by myself and in my SWK Blackwatch Heavy duty (yes, nine yards of wool in the heat and humidity). This was the first time I wore a kilt to this type of event. The responses were surprising to shocking for me. And realize when God made me I did not get much from the ‘handsome’ supply.

To start with at the entry I was purchasing a ticket to enter the dance. The woman working at the booth was no less than enthralled with how I was dressed. She had many comments and questions. I was starting to feel a little bad because I really needed to cut her off as other people arriving to purchase tickets. As we parted she gave me a BIG smile.

When I went to the bar the girl (I probably only say ‘girl’ as I am 44) was no less enthralled with the kilt than the woman at the ticket booth. Usually the bar at this place looks like mass production, however, she seemed to spend a little extra time making drinks for me than what most others received.

Usually, I go here with a group of friends (I am the ‘kid’ as most are 50-60), but even though I went by myself I was surprised that none of my friends came last night. However, numerous people came up to me with many questions and comments. If any comments were negative they were made out of my range of ear shot.

Most people at the dance go outside while the band takes a break. This building gets hot. While out side I was hoping to see some friends arriving. While just standing and waiting a couple that were holding hands passed behind me heading towards the dance hall. I saw this couple out of the corner of my eye before they walked behind me. The wife as….ah…..ah….very nice……looking brunet. As they passed behind me the wife took here free hand, reached up and gave my shoulder two quick squeezes. I quickly turned to notice that she had slowed down so that she was about a step behind her man so that he did not see what she did to me

The kicker towards the end of the dance was a woman that I never saw before came up to me and began asking questions about my kilt. I would guess that this woman was about 60 years old, but she….ah…..was…ah….very Nice looking…..and…ah…….kept her body….ah….very nice as well. Where we were standing was next to the table where her husband (who was much bigger and taller than me) was at. All of a sudden this woman TELLS me to dance with her. I asked her what would her husband think of her dancing with a stranger. She told me that she did not care and again proceeded to tell me that we were going to dance. Well, we went out and ‘cut some serious rug’ for about half an hour. Since none of my friends showed up I had not danced all night and this was my first time on this dance floor in a kilt. When I first got out on the floor everyone within about a 20-30 foot radius paused for a couple of seconds as if in disbelief of what they were seeing.

    The evening was awesome.

    What I learned:
    1. Never, never, never, underestimate the power of the kilt (especially with the ladies)
    2. A kilt is the best thing to dance in. I got very warm at the end, but the heat was all above the belt; everything below the belt was very comfortable. And this is in a nine yard wool tank!!!

    power

Oh yes. I totally understand the power of the kilt. So does my wife...

Yesterday at the Skagit games a lady said I had a "sexy swish". I thought that was cute until she asked if she could feel my pleats. Not thinking...I said "sure". The woman was cleaver. Little minx copped a feel.

    Cool.

Dancing kilted is such a joy...

Women are naturally (Darwin etc.) drawn to bold men.
