Royal Regiment Of Scotland Tribute
I came across this on YouTube and thought I would share it. I am not sure if this has been posted in the past. If not it is worth 5 min to view.

Thank you for that. A real interesting watch for anyone interested in the makeup of the Royal Regiment.

lets you see how the British government chopped over 370 years of history, and reduced the morale of all the Scottish regiments, as someone who served for over 9 years, it makes me sad to see the mix matched uniform that we have been left with. The "jocks" will always be the back bone of the British army but messing with tradition is causing problems with recruiting and retention. Nemo me impune lacessit.

Anyone else notice the rose being worn behind the cap badge of one of the 1st Battalion (Royal Scots Borderers) Jocks?
The rose is worn by members of certain regiments (the King's Own Scottish Borderers being one) that fought at the Battle of Minden on 1 August, 1759. The story goes that British soldiers picked roses from a garden as they advanced against the French.

Nice to see the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders perpetuated. The amalgamations of all the old British Army Regiments has resulted in many famous names being put aside. Seems that the 'powers that be' have no care for tradition.

That was really well done. The background music by Mark Knopfler was right on. Lest we forget. Thanks for posting that.

The amalgamated regiments were often themselves the result of amalgamations.
I found it amazing where some of the battalions are now headquartered!
Very moving seeing the faces of those who gave their all at the end.

My two cents
When I was young, I watched the young men march off to war in Vietnam and thought they are no longer the boys I grew up with, they are now men. I looked at the young men in the video and realized nothing has changed. Young men sill go off to war and many still do not come back to grow old.
The historical aspect of the vid was most interesting and I did enjoy it altho I really did not grasp the whole story as I don't have a lot about military history in my background.

The regiment's main website http://www.royalregimentofscotland.org.uk/index.php ,and especially the web links off the main site, are a wealth of information for those interested.
