    Question Drone reeds?

Has any heard of or use these drone reeds?
"Kilberry plastic drones" I'm a newbie piper wanna be, and not looking to break the bank (just yet) give me a couple of years before I go for the professional type reeds.

Check out here for the info you seek, on all things bagpipes:

There will probly be reviews of them, if the reeds have been out for a while.
    Do you have pipes already?

Canning drone reeds are getting excelent reviews, Ive used the Kilberry ones and they are pretty good. I am now using OMEGA reeds and I would not recomend them for a beginner, Souter are nice and simple to set up but the reeds I would reccomend for a fledgling piper every time are "cleartone" reeds, dirt cheap, sound great are are extremely easy to strike in, and they need very little, if any alteration to work OK Ive had 2 sets of these and most of the pipers in our band use them without any hassle whatsoever. theya re litrally "plug in and play"

Id strongly reccomend these reeds thay are fantastic for new pipers

You wont be disapointed, ive compared them to so many much more expensive sets and they come out as good, I keep a set in my pipe box just in case of mishaps, i know i can put them in and they will always work, I love my recently purchased omegas which cost 7 times as much but my cleartones are always there just in case.

Actually, beginners need reeds that are simple, steady, and low on air consumption, whether or not they're cheap isn't particularly relevant.

    Reeds

I use Cannings. They are reliable, easy to set up and adjust and they hit "bang on" in all types of weather.

Hey everyone thanks for the info. I am just starting out on a chanter and expect to be some time before actually getting a set of pipes. It is good to know that when that day comes, there are items out there to help us old newbies.
