    Kilt Strap and Buckles Review

    Hello all,

I have a kilt on the way which needed some replacement buckles. I'm also making a kilt or two myself. I decided I needed to find some nice, inexpensive buckles and straps.

First, I have some SWK buckles and straps.

The next set were from another company that I saw searching the forums.

My first impressions of both sets are good. Anybody who's seen the SWK buckles/straps knows that they feel nice and look great. They're also cheap. I found the other set I ordered to be slightly less appealing. The leather itself is too shiny for my taste. It's also quite stiff. The buckles are decent, but the SWK buckles are significantly heavier. The SWK straps are slightly longer, which I think will help with attaching them to a kilt easily. The good thing is, the other brand was a few dollars cheaper (not a big deal unless you're in a pinch.)

I'm not sure which set I'll use on which kilt yet. While the other brand was nice, the SWK's are a lot nicer. I may not use anything other than them unless I find something better at a similar price.

Anyway, here's some pictures. I'm not sure what the shadow in the picture is. SWK's on the left

Nice review and I am glad the SWK straps are good. I am in the process of making a kilt myself now and now I know what group to order!

(BTW, the shadow is caused by your front lens element and your pop-up flash)

It shouldn't though. My lens is a mere 18-55 and the flash gets pretty high. Never had that issue before. Who knows.

I've also recently used SWK straps on my slate wool self made tank from Monday.

They are nice and sturdy, yet easy to sew through in your average home sewing machine.

Cool! How much were the buckles and who is the supplier for the second set of buckles?
    Thanks,
    David
