Chicago Kilt Night on August 23rd - Dinner and theater- Brewboy is in the play!
Our own Brewboy is playing a key role in the world premiere production of "The Tearful Assassin" which runs on weekends from August 1-August 24th at the Gorilla Tango Theater, 1919 North Milwaukee in Chicago. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 and Sundays at 7 p.m. Tickets are only $15.
I think he'd get a kick out of a kilted kontingent in the audience (and it's early enough that we could get a wee dram afterwards.
This would be a great time to include spouses and other folks in one of our outings. We could even meet for dinner before the performance.
What do you think? (I'll be out of town the first weekend, but I'm open for any of the others).
UPDATE: Looks like we're shooting for a group outing on August 23rd (which will give us a chance to recover from three kilt nights in the last month).

The only night that I can't do it is the 16th (poker night). If Finn won't be in until the 22nd how about the 23rd or the 24th when the run closes.

Sounds like Finn will be busy that entire last weekend and probably won't be able to make it, but maybe they'll be settled in time for Celtic Fest in September

TheKiltedCoder writes in a PM that he can only do it on the 2nd and the 23rd. As I can't do it on the 2nd of August (I'll be out of town) - How about the evening of the 23rd. That's a Saturday night and we could meet for dinner earlier.

I'll have to check with Wife about the 23rd, but I'm highly doubtful.
Alternatively, we ARE planning on going to Millennium Park on the afternoon of 9/1 for a free concert.
Still working on convincing Wife about Celtic Fest at Grant Park.

Anyone have a suggestion for a restaurant near the theatre? It's near the intersection of Milwaukee, Armitage and Western. I know a good Mexican restaurant nearby. Anybody have other suggestions?

The Lucky Number Grill just opened next door to the theater, and what's more, we have a deal with them for the show. $1 off all drinks with a ticket stub (their drinks are already cheap, so read $2 domestics, $3 imports, and $3 liquor). They also have food, but I know the Mexican place is good. There's also Margie's for the ice cream minded.
Thanks for throwing this together, McFarkus. I appreciate it.
Remember guys, this is a night out at the theater, so spouses and significant others are encouraged to come. How often does a kilt night coincide with a chance to win points with the lady?

So maybe we could do dinner before the show at the Mexican place and drinks afterwards ath the Lucky Number Grill. If I have to wait until after the show to eat, I'll be gnawing on the edge of the stage during the performance.
