Make your own skunk (or make me one...)
Found this on ebay. I'd love a sporran made out of it, but haven't the skills.
Someone else may find it useful.

Hey! I made a sporran out of a skunk (cased hide) and will get pics posted if my digital camera starts working again. What I did with my hide, was since it was a cased hide, was cut the tail section off and turn the hide inside out and sew up there. I also removed the head section and flipped it over sewing it there. I also sewed a liner of soft off-white deerhide. I then sewed belt loops on the underside. This worked fine for me. It looks nice IMO, if you don't mind having nipples on the underside of your sporran!

If the hide is actually as good as the photo depicts, that's a good price.

Well, we'll find out after I get back from my road trip, yep, I bought it. Right after my wife said no.... so I may have a price to pay (I can tell her it's for my birthday).
I don't know that I have the skills either, but I think I'll give it a go. Or maybe I'll chicken out and take it to my Biology classroom instead.
Cheers,
Marshal Moroni

I ended up purchasing another he had. I'll keep the details on lock-down for now, but I'm extremely excited.
*I keep thinking of how great McMurdo's skunk sporran looks.*

I've made two mask sporrans, raccoon & possum. Both from tanned skins bought at www.hideandfur.com .
Wasn't really difficult. You'll hafta carve a head form... and mount the eyes just right or it'll look goofy.
I posted my how-to four to six months ago. Should be simple enough to find it.
Slainte yall,
steve
