Had an interesting night last night. Took my first "Scottish Martial Arts" class, specifically the Scottish Highland broadsword. Very interesting, great instructor, etc.

I wore a kilt of course, my brand new SWK Standard Nightwatch, first time I've worn it. I like it, and so did the instructor. He was very impressed that a kilt of such quality only cost me $80. The light fabric was perfect for the 97 degree humid day, and it was a pleasure to fence in.

It was also the first time I've worn a "traditional style" kilt. My other two kilts are UKs, so this was the first time with the full apron/more pleats/sporran effect. I must say I really enjoyed the experience. The only minor drawback was that UKs are much easier to sit in while maintaining decorum due to the narrow front apron.

Also interesting to note was while passing Oregon City's local Scottish pub, the Still House, I saw a gentleman exiting in a tan UK. I really need to hit that pub next time! int:
