First workout in six weeks
It's today. I think I'm gonna start out easy.
I knocked off after the Livermore Games. I didn't want to risk getting hurt before the Singlehanded TransPac, so I stopped practicing and just watched and took video at Campbell.
However, it's time to get back into it, I've got a month before Fresno and two months before Ben Lomond! I have to check my calendar (I have a conference in Portland the weekend of Oct. 19-22) and see if I can make it to the Seaside Games in Ventura.

Whooooo, man oh man.
Stones were...well. Oh, dear. I need work.
Hammer...I couldn't keep my balance, was flinging myself all over the place and only throwing about 72 ft.
28 lb WFD started out ugly but by the end I was doing OK with 26 pounds in the weight. I even dropped one spot on the 40 foot mark.
42 lb WFD...oh dear. Just....oh, dear.
42 WOB...I spent my eight throws heaving the thing straight up, not up and OVER. Well, it WAS going about 11.5 -12 feet, but...
All things considered, not hopeless but I have a long way to go to get back to where I was last May!

I forget which class do you compete in Alan? B or A?
Also how long had it been since you last competed?

I just read in another thread that you compete in the Masters, so that answers that question.

My last Games was Livermore at the end of May. I'm planning on squeezing in two more before the end of the season, both in October.

Alan,
I'll trade ya my stone throws for your hammers ;-) My damn busted knee STILL won't let me wind up like I need to and I'm in my first competition since the injury this weekend!
I've only got one other scheduled in October in Ohio--I'd LOVE to get in something else between now and then in Michigan/Ohio.
I'm right with ya on the 28# WFD and the heavy WFD/WOB gawds yep--still have to search for my kibbles after each toss, but I think my form is getting better.
Be a blast to compete with you sometime--we MASTERS need to stick together;-)

I have found the best way to avoid sports injuries is to be a spectator. But I DO enjoy watching. Hope your knee gets better fast, Pete

Worked out this morning--oig! Falling apart :-) Headed off to Kalamazoo to compete tomorrow...ligiments, tendons and pride be damned! If I do anything truely embarassing, I'll be sure to post pictures here ;-)
Ya know--being a Lightweight Master ain't that easy anymore--anyone got an extra 100 lbs they wanna spare me? ;-)

SIX weeks! Yikes! Start with the core muscles as you'll wanna protect that back.
