    Final TransPac news

.....for those of you following the race.

7:15 AM local time Hawaii, Ruben Gabriel and Sparky crossed the line and sailed into Hanalei Bay.

Sparky was dismasted over 650 miles from Hawaii. Ruben made a jury rig mast from the broken parts, endured days with no wind, and finally got little Sparky moving at 5 knots....almost as fast as he was going with a full rig...towards the goal.

    GO THE SPARK!

........and congratulations, hugs, and beer for Ruben Gabriel!!!!!!!

That is a lot of work for a single handed sailor. Thanks for the update and pleased he got in safe.

Thanks for the update Alan, I had been checking for a couple of days on him. What a great feat of sailing.
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

Pictures of the jury rig, of Reuben and Robbie.

It's one hell of a story, and it's TRUE.
