Tartan Shirts
Just got the new Orvis catalog www.orvis.com Its rife with thing's Scottish...or so they say.
There are a lot of tartan shirts offered. For me, tartan shirts helped me survive wearing pantz at work...keeps the spirit up.
Of course tartan shirts also look great with solid color kilts.
Orivis is offering what they call District Tartans but seem, in fact, to be fashion tartans. North Skye, Lochaber (an Isle of Skye tartan look), Kintail, and a white Dress Stewart look.
They also offer dress shirts in what seem to be authentic tartans. Scott (seems to be 763 Scott, a green), Dress Campbell, Royal Stewart, Hunting Stewart, U.S. 7th Cavalry, and Prince Charles (1170 Prince Charles Albert).

IMO, i think tartan shirts look dreadful. A shirt should be fitting with a kilt or even pants, but matching?! bit much isn't it.

OTH tartan shirts are a way of showing the tartan when a kilt cannot be worn. That is why I had two made from a wash wool some 20 or so years back. I still have them, but would NEVER wear them with a tartan kilt, matching or not.

Reminds me of when I was in HS and every guy who was anyone wore a great Pendleton plaid shirt. Of course, the really lucky ones were the kids who had a parent working at the mill cause they got a new one every year.

Cavscout,
I love that shirt! I have a Hudson Bay 4-point capote that I made, I've always loved the candy-stripe.

Yes, it reminded me of your family's tradition of making the capote.
