Finn, it IS something that you and Mrs. Finn should do. There are a lot of things other than Celtic Fest going on and it's a great destination.
Reminding the folks that Celtic Fest is free...sponsored by the City via the many sponsors that participate.
Anybody thinking about coming in from out of town, I recommend looking into one of the multi attraction Chicago Passes...admission to most of the museums has gotten to be rather steep these days and any breaks you can get will be good. We had the New York version of these passes last year and it was a considerable saving.
Mark, it IS Chicago's front yard but try telling that to those people who bought condos downtown and now think that it's their exclusive recreational facility...what a bunch of dimwits!
To possibly tempt anybody who's not local, needs a wee vacation and is on the fence:

...do you think that I'm just a little prejudiced?

AA, you are NOT prejudiced, just stating objective fact. I would not hesitate to say that you are always right (if it were not for the unfortunate fact that you support the White Sox).

I happily invite all to begin Celtic Fest at my condo downtown. We can the head to my front yard from there.

I'll be there both days.

That sounds like a plan. I'm guessing that parking will be a pain, so we should either take public transportation or park elsewhere and hike or cab over.

Since we're going to a Labor Day concert on the 1st at Millennium Park and then Feast of the Hunters Moon on the 27th, it may be hard to convince her that Celtic Fest is necessary.
We may even be in the city this Saturday too.
We've both been starved for culture & activities, so I may be able to convince her of a few events.
If you see a kilted stranger with a family on Saturday, that will be me. I'll try to drift over to one of the restaurants.

I'll have to ask my wife if she wants to visit her mother again!

Red, we'd love to see you again. We could hit the Duke of Perth sometime during the weekend, though I expect there will be good grub and drinks at the fest.
