    Interesting story. Having been up and down the royal mile I certainly understand the need for this. Too many times you have to step in traffic to get around these displays.

    I was there just last month and it was tacky to say the least. I'm glad to read that it's been tamed a bit.

    Sounds like the should've confronted the owners first. I would think imposing fines would've been more legal than actually confiscating possessions.

    The article stated that the shop owners has been notified by what in the US is called "Certified Mail", for which one must sign. If they didn't read it, that's their problem!

    Ok, I can understand if the shop is spilling out into the street with racks of clothing, but if it's a menu sign or something like that, then I think it goes too far. How about some common sense?
