Zardoz, do you know how the hurricane affected that area of Galveston which hosts the "Dickens on the Strand" Victorian Christmas Feast?

According to their websites, A little beat up, but still hanging in there!
All Dickens events are a go, and indeed the Galveston historic district sez they are ready for your tourist dollars now. Remember, the Strand district and nearby historic home areas have been weathering hurricanes for over 100 years. I know many of the lower streets in that area got flooded, but they are gearing up to host a big motorcycle rally at the end of this month, so I'm sure they will be ready for Dickens in December.

Not to be a wet blanket, but the motorcycle rally got postponed until November because the hospital is not ready for them, yet. Seriously. They may be able to handle Dickens, unless all the Scots pull out their claymores and dirks and have a clan war. Here's their webby and no mention of delay:

I just heard about the rally dates today. The Galveston folks said the downtown area "would not be ready" by November 1st. After seeing some of the area up close I'm not surprized to hear that. So now the festival of wannabe's... I mean the Lone Star Rally, will be December 11-14, the weekend after Dickens on the Strand.
