    Navajo Corn Festival

A yellow kilt (USA Kilts Loud MacLeod semi-trad) seemed the proper thing to wear to a Corn Festival. Was held this weekend at our local Navajo Heritage Center. Good corn fixin's for sure including piki bread (Hopi), kneel down bread (Navajo), roasted corn, corn stew, corn cake...sorta the Bubba Gump of corn...even was an elderly Navajo grandma with a "Run Forrest Run" t-shirt on.

Lots of great culural talks about the history of corn and local Native ways. Took a few pics.

This is the inside of a traditional Navajo hogaan with a loom used to weave wool rugs. Those are cedar logs folks, what a dreamy smell inside.

A generic pic showing the local Navajo sandstone rock formations.

Here's a closer shot of the kilt with pleats in the wind. Very windy today, but kept it cool.

    And the frontside

I'm always amazed when looking at your pictures how wonderful the scenery is. But back to the kilt the kilt/you look great.

One question is the bottom edge frayed or a selvage?

Sadly my USA Mcleod of Lewis semi traditional kilt never has such magnificent backdrops to be photographed with.

The Corn festival sounds interesting, fun, and very tasty.

    Cheers

Hey Kennethrmc, welcome aboard. Bunch of X Marks rabble in Flagstaff. I'm a Bilagaana rez rat too, usually up on Black Mesa but wander most of Western Navajo, and have explored most of the rez too. And of course Hopi.

Blinki, my particular USA Kilts Loud MacLeod semi-trad has about 1/4" of frayed edge along the hemline.

    Superb pics, Ron.
Loud MacLeod wouldn't work for everyone, which is why I commemorate my MacLeod line with a Hunting MacLeod kilt, but it looks just great on you.
Super pics, you do have a knack for finding stunning scenic backdrops for your shots.

More superb photos Ron, and you are blessed in having such magnificent locations in which to show your Kollection. One of these days I will get to Arizona - but not until I have added a fine Loud MacLeod kilt to my Kollection!

    Take care,
    Ham.
