    Fun with 2.4 meters

    Howdy all,

    Here's my most recent work.

These came from 2.4 meters of regimental weight Modern Douglas tartan.

I cut the waistcoat slightly short so it won't lie too low under my Regulation Doublet, but conservative enough that I can wear it for more casual occasions. I just couldn't bring myself to add lapels or match the low frontal cut of a formal accessory. Matt Newsome looks so good in his matching bias-cut vest, that I had to copy him. He coaxed me into the bias cut front-horizontal rear configuration. This was a big hit at high tea this afternoon.

All the buttons are removable, and the pockets are functional. Now I need to find a good manual pocket watch with two or three coordinated chains.

Look for more photos of these from next weekend. We'll have three generations in Douglas colors for our family gathering.

    Cheers,

    Kevin.

PS- at age 40, I shined my first pair of shoes in decades- note the glossy caps!

WOW! And WOW! That definitely rivals professional work that I've seen.

looks good, but just a point if I may...
most waistcoats have a smooth thinner fabric back for a few reasons, not least that any jacket worn with it will need to be able to glide over and woollen cloth isn't very good for that, and another reason to use thinner fabric is one of warmth, perhaps too much!
for posh wear with a jacket the shiny buttons probably work, but for casual something plainer, but you've already thought of that as they are removable!
Look forward to seeing more pics in due course!

That's awesome. Great how the lines run obliquely in front, but straight in the back and it still differentiates from the kilt. Nice Job! Great sporran and pin, too.

Handsome work indeed Kevin! Now, does mini-son Alexander get a matching GrrAnimals Waistcoat for his Kit as well?

Very nicely done and congratulations on that first shoe shine. Just busting your chops because I know your Navy time required shining way too many.

    Fair winds,

    Bruce

It may be your browser or it's settings. I'm using Mozilla with no problems.

    That looks awesome indeed.
