Hi - from Oxford, UK
So I've gone and bought 3.7m of MacGillivray Ancient Hunting tartan this week - in a bit of a heady rush of excitment.... and now - you guessed it - what am I gonna do with it? Still trying to figure that out!
Does anyone know if I can buy BarbT's book in the UK?
Thanks - and looking forward to seeing what happens next!

Welcome from Salt Lake City!
My recommendation is to put it away for awhile. Get some fashion tartan (any cheap plaid) from the fabric store and make a practice kilt (or two).
You will be glad you made your mistakes on the cheap stuff.
Be careful though... this is an addiction!
It don't mean a thing, if you aint got that swing!!

from South Wales!
I think you have to order Barb's book directly from the US but if you stay at Ferintosh there is a copy you can read!

Thanks for that great warm welcome! Kindred Spirits!
Ok - so I have my plan of action....
1) order Barb's book - Done!
2) get some cheap material to make a hash of!... To be done....
3) take some pictures to share when I get there.... so that'll be a few months off then! ;)
Thanks again folks....
Oh - btw - I'll be out in my Black Watch sports kilt in Friday night in Newport, South Wales - cheering on Edinburgh Rugby - and my dad'll be wearing his! (Wont wear the MacGillivray Modern Red - incase I spill some beer on it!) ;)

Welcome from just South of Oxford!
And good luck with the kilt making. Like the others from the UK here, I had to order my copy of Barb's book from the States. (Not that I have the skills to make a kilt, just because I wanted to learn more about how they are made. I greatly enjoyed reading it.)
