My first kilted outing
It only just occurred to me while I started typing this up that I think I’ve become addicted to this forum.
Anyway whilst I was on here last night I was reminded that I needed to go into Banff today and I had the brilliant idea of wearing my new kilt, now I decided not to say anything on here because I wasn’t sure that I would chicken out this morning having only put my kilt on he first time on Monday, However I got up put on my kilt found my only plain black t-shirt (which happens to be a polo) put on my belt which looks slightly weird because its a trouser belt and looks small but I need a belt because the kilt is slightly too big for me, And decided against a sporran after finding out that I cant fit my phone & wallet in it at the same time. So off I went spend 10 minutes in the car sorting my pleats lol but I was off for my first kilted outing. About half an hour into my journey maybe ten minutes out of Banff I was struck by the sudden idea of “why am I doing this!” because after reading all the posts on here about people asking why are you wearing a kilt/skirt/whatever anyone else wants to call it, and do you play the pipes I was expecting to get accosted as soon as I got out of the car. However I didn’t and I set off about my business next thing I know it’s been forty five minutes and apart form the occasional funny look and one bloke stating rather loudly in the paper shop f**k me he’s in a kilt, all was well I wasn’t cold having decided not to try regimental just in case it was.
Anyway the moral of this rather long winded tale is I’m converted and I’m going to try and wear my kilt as much as possibly and keep my eyes open for more bargains in the future.
Sorry for such a long rambling post but I thought it put it out here

Thats great glad to see you will be enjoying the new kilt, perhaps you need a Rob Roy type Sporran, I can completely recommend Freelander Sporrans you would definitely be able to fit your phone and wallet in one.

Check.

Check. It starts with the simple accessories.

A man should only carry in his wallet a credit card (1), his driver's license or ID, maybe an insurance card, and a few bank notes. So maybe edit the contents of the wallet, or - you knew this was coming - buy a bigger day sporran.

You'll get the hang of it: Swing bum, sweep, sit, don't worry, all in one quick movement.

Really? In Scotland?

It's never cold "up there" even in the most frigid weather, I've found.
Anyway the moral of this rather long winded tale is I’m converted and I’m going to try and wear my kilt as much as possibly and keep my eyes open for more bargains in the future.
Check. Addicted. Welcome to the madness.

Rex.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

Well congratulations Jordan on your first outing. Boy if you can't wear a kilt in Scotland, where can you? Anyway I'm very happy for you wearing your kilt out and about. I felt quite apprehensive my first time out albeit at a celtic festival. Before that I had only been out hiking, rarely chancing upon anyone. I still feel as though I have not had a real outing yet away from the festival crowd. But I haven't worked up the courage for that yet. I guess that with each step I take and want to take two more. You are a Braveheart.

I tend to have a lot of various cards and such in mine, but the section with my drivers license and CCs actually separates from the wallet, for when I am using the sporran.

congratulations on your first outing. Believe me (and the other here) it gets easier each time and each time you get more comfortable with the kilt and being out in it. BTW I think you need an updated screen-name.

Congrats for sure.
Maybe you have a vest you can wear in lieu of a sporran until you get them. Much more comfy too.
