I ran across the original of this engraving a couple days ago & recalled it was done when he was a youngster.
I did a bit of searching just now & came up with the following about the original painting:
Prince Charles Edward Stuart
studio of Antonio David
oil on canvas, feigned oval, circa 1729-1732
25 in. x 19 in. (635 mm x 483 mm)
Purchased, 1876
On display Beningbrough Hall, on Floor 1: Lady Chesterfield's Dressing Room at Beningbrough Hall

Hi Erik,
I'm not sure as I'm not familiar with A.J.Skrimshire. Of course its a copy of the painting done by Antonio David, but perhaps someone else here can shed light upon A.J.Skrimshire or follow Jock's advice.
See any dates upon it?

I couldn't find anything on A.J.Skrimshire, but the style of engraving is called Mezzotint, and basically is a lost art. I found examples ranging from late 18th century to very early 20th century. This seem's to have been a popular art form during the Victorian era.
UPDATE:
I believe the engravers / artist full name is Alfred J. Skrimshire. I couldn't locate much info on him (other than he's British), but did find two works done by him during early 20th century.
I'll keep digging ;-)
