    In A Big Country

Just thought I'd post this for my fellow Big Country fans (and maybe gain a few more in the process!)

    Big Country-"In A Big Country"

    Rest in peace, Stuart!

(PS- Here's The Alarm's version of the song, featuring Bruce Watson from Big Country! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4S2fHXHpjE...beautiful tribute!)

Saw them perform in Inverness on the anniversary tour just before Hogmany last year - it was absolutely brilliant!

A packed house, and the crowd sang along, not just to every word, but to every note of every guitar riff, as well.

Never had the good fortune of seeing them before, but I've been a huge BC fan for years.

    Stuart, you're sorely missed, man.

Slainte!!! Rest in peace, Stuart (I hope you found the peace you were looking for. I understand why you thought you had to go...but you didn't have to go. I wish you were still here. But I hope you found the solace you so desperately needed, and I hope you're at peace...slainte, my friend!)

they're still playing? who sings for them now?

the crossing was crazy good, but i always enjoyed steeltown, too. loved tall ships go... their live barrowlands cd from the king biscuit flower hour is awesome, as well. great version of lost patrol.

    interesting. thanks maxwell.

they lost me with the seer, but for several years in the mid-80s big country made up one third of my magic triangle of music. three bands whose significant roots in celtic folktelling and socio-political awareness defied genre pideon-holing by the music industry: big country, the alarm and my all-time favorite band/performer aztec camera/roddy frame.

while the vast majority of my high school were glazed over by sammy hagar-era van halen, i was lucky to have these three bands to shape my impressionable mind.

side note: please let's not get an aztec camera thread up on this forum. i can't afford the time that i would undoubtedly spend replying to it...
