GolfKnicker.com over the calf socks
Has anyone tried GolfKnicker.com's over the calf golf socks, especially their argylle, as shown here: http://www.golfknicker.com/socks.html ?
Will they do for wearing with a kilt?

I've not heard of them. I would be interested in seeing some worn with a kilt. I wonder if they come high enough to allow for a fold at the top?

They have a really big selection.... and they have a sale: 3 for $50. Sounds pretty good, but there's two things I'm worried about. Are they long enough, and will the colors match my tartans? On both questions, I'd probably answer 'no'.

They might not be thick enough either. However, if they are on sale... Perhaps there is a way to take two identical pairs; remove the top third of one pair; then attach it to the other pair in such a way that the fold over covers the seam. Just a random thought.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Could you be a little more specific about the exact nature of the problems with them?
Thanks

Well that & historical reenactments (depending upon the style of breeches ).

They don't appear to be tall enough.

These are probably too short, intended as they are to be worn with Plus Fours. (as opposed to "in" Plus Fours, which is the sort of car I drive)
