Kilts For Idi Amin
Below is a link to a story about Tim McMahon, a Vancouver man whose kiltmaking background reaches back to 1959. He has outfitted members of the Royal Family and former dictator Idi Amin.
His career also included a royal appointment as Master Tailor for the Black Watch.

_Very_ neat story. I did raise my eyebrows, though, when the article said that it takes him 3 days to make a kilt (which is definitely reasonable), but then estimated the total working time at 10 hours. Doesn't make sense to me. Maybe the interviewer misunderstood.

I wondered that, too, but that's _too_ long.

I wonder if the movie "The Last King of Scotland" got the tartan right then?

Matt Newsome was contacted by members of the movie's crew in regards to the tartan Idi Amin might have worn; Matt suggested the Government Sett.
Amin was a Sergeant in the King's African Rifles (KAR) which I believe had no connections to any Scottish units.

The few reporters I have known have not been very arithmetically skilled. Perhaps McMahon said something on the order of "three days overall, up to ten hours per day" which seems plausible to me.
