trews for the kid
Here is my first attempt at making Trews for my son. These were made out of a set of plaid sheets. When the boy quits growing a 1/4" a week I'll think about getting some nice tartan material and making him a good set.

Great job, good symmetry, are these things comfy to wear?
I know they are just pants, but if they are made of wool..?

They look great. They should go well with a punk look.

I (Heart) Food!
That pretty much sums up growing boys!
The pants look well made, but I don't believe you can really call them trews.
If I am not mistaken, tartan trews are fairly tight fitting but also have a high rise and a sort of duck tail back to them. The high rise means that they can be worn with kilt jackets (at least that seems to be the case on Monarch of the Glen).
Perhaps Todd, Phil, or MoR can help me out here.
Cheers
Jamie

Yeah These were just a standard pattern, and even that was hard to come by. It seems that the pattern makers have decided that men don't need an pants made these days.

This is from the Scottish Tartan Museum website trews page
The original tartan trews (Gaelic truibhs) were tight pants and cut on the bias. Modern trews are cut more like trousers, with certain stylistic elements adapted to Highland Dress. Traditionally, Lowland Scottish regiments have worn trews with their No. 1, mess and full dress uniforms. The new Royal Scottish Regiment continues to wear trews in certain orders of dress.
You can order your trews from the Scottish Tartans Museum in four different styles:
Standard Trousers: Standard "1 pleat" trousers made from tartan cloth.
Argyle: Trews cut with a high waist to wear with a kilt belt and Argyle style jacket. (pictured right)
Fishtail: Trews cut with a very high "fishtail" style waist for wear with a Prince Charlie jacket.
Military: Fishtail style trews made in the traditional military fashion with no outside seams.
I do like them and think you did a great job, please post the next pair as well.

and yes these are a standard cotton/flannel bed sheet set. If I do a wool set they would have to be lined
