Making a car payment vs. buying piper's hose

Can anyone direct me to a vendor who sells piper's hose that won't require me to take out a second mortgage?

    Cheap Piper Hose

    http://www.college-of-piping.co.uk/a...Kilt_Hose.html

These appear to be the same hose as those sold at The Scottish Lion, though a good deal cheaper, even when the shipping is considered.

I contacted them and they told me that shipping would be £3 to the United States. That would bring the total to £15.72 ($22.49) versus The Scottish Lion's price of $36.50, including shipping via USPS.

My next pair of piper hose will be from the College of Piping! (Unless someone has had a bad experience with them, that is...)

P.S. Make sure you check the VAT Exempt box under TAXES when you check out to avoid paying VAT.

    Hi Derek,

VAT = Value Added Tax - Was originally introduced as a Pan-European tax by all the then EEC countries to pay for the running of the EEC. The rates vary across Europe but are only applicable to the residents of the EEC nations, US citizens are exempt.

    Regards

    Chas

I took two weeks of tuition there in the mid-90s with Angus J. MacLellan. They have a great mission and there's been some exciting changes under Principal Robert Wallace. They also host an internet radio show which futures current piping.

All other things being equal (i.e. price/ quality/ service) I like to support places that have a larger mission (College of Piping, Scottish Tartans Museum, etc.). I'd encourage everyone to check them out.

    Cordially,

    David

OK, you can't beat that price, and I think cotton would be a nice change. Problem, though: they don't have them in white. My band -- and most, I think -- wear white hose.

May have to go with the college of piping on this one.
