Kilted at the Fortune 500
Back when I was a lad in college our fraternity kept a "Professor File." Everyone who took a class from a professor would add their helpful comments about the professor's likes and dislikes, ways of grading, types of tests, quirks, etc.
The Professor File was a handy item when enrolling for a semester and deciding which classes to take from which professor.
Here on this forum we talk from time to time about kilts at work. Sometimes good results, sometimes challenges.
What if we named names [hope this isn't breaking a rule]. Wouldn't work for small businesses, way too many, but what if rabble who happened to work for Fortune 500 companies contributed their knowledge about their employer's policies towards being kilted at work.
Not sure where we'd keep the list, but it could be very handy for guys looking for a job - to have knowledge up front as to whether interviewing kilted would be a wise move or a poor move. To know up front if they accept a position from a corporation if they could expect to wear kilts on the job.
Just a thought. Might also be an interesting way to see what the state of the Nation (at least in the U.S.) is about wearing kilts.
Might even be helpful if someone working at a small corporation was able to confidently show their H.R. department a list of Fortune 500 companies that accept kilts on the job.
Like, I'm guessing REI might be one of the Fortune 500 and I believe I've seen posts that REI is kilt friendly.

kilts at work
I remember reading that Microsoft is A-OK with kilts as well. Probably because of UK having their headquarters there, and they seem to thhink along some of the same lines as Microsoft. I know the company I work for is kilt friendly, but we have about 79,903 rungs to climb before we crack the 500.

Although it isn't a company, Cornell Law School is kilt friendly. I would imagine most of the university would be as well.
Perhaps there could be an attachment to the list of actual companies that lists other places known to be kilt friendly.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

Re: Universities - considering when I was in undergrad there were some people who wore their sleepwear to class (and not the "ooh la la" kind of sleepwear, the "blah I'd rather be watching TV on my couch" kind), whenever I wore my kilt, it seemed to be an improvement on the dress code.
Grad School was a bit different - I was one of about half of my class that always dressed well for class, occasionally meaning kilt and jacket. The other half would dress only when we had a guest speaker (which, since we were at a presidential school, was a frequent occurance.) I was never given a hassle about kilting up though, which I think would be the norm.
Perhaps as an addendum, a list of F500 companies that are strictly non-kilt friendly, no way no how, as well as what reason they give/gave?

So what do you do when you sexually harass yourself? Who do you complain to? (I only ask because our HR person at work is the most sexually harassing woman I have ever met... and it's nothing short of hilarious!)
Oh yeah- and Direct Sign Wholesale in Denver, while not a F-500 company, is kilt friendly.

I work for a large defense company. If you know Tucson at all you know which one. A friend of mine and I wear kilts to work all the time. Our HR department said there is absolutely nothing a company can do to prevent you from wearing a kilt, safety being the only exception, to work. As long as women can wear skirts, men can wear kilts is what we were told.
Almost all the women just love it when I wear a kilt.
The men from 23 to 30 always give the "Dude, that's so cool" comments. The men from 31 to 45 don't say anything but are clearly wondering what I'm up to. And the men from 46 on up almost alway say, "I sure wish I had the courage to wear that. It looks awesome"
