    Travel to Glasgow?

Advice on coming to Glasgow. I'm planning on attending the College of Piping for a summer session in July or August. Any advice on airfare, lodging, sites... for a first time leaving the US.

Yes - driving in the city is difficult at best. But it you're receiving CoP tutelage, you won't need to go anywhere. I recall that there's a hotel on site - perhaps that's changed.

You may wanna buy that ticket now.

    Enjoy yourself.

At that time of year the Scottish college and university students have all gone away for the summer and the student residences open their doors to short stay visitors, so you should be able to find economic accommodation in one or other of these.

Try to contact the Piping centre and ask them how you can get into the halls of residence. That's where a lot of the pipers stay when they come.
As far as travel, you can get a bus from Glasgow airport to Buchanan street bus station and a bus from there to the halls. All is fairly easy to find and people are usually pretty helpful.

    P.S.
I may possibly be back in the city at that time. If I am I will let you know and can help you get around.

I was reminded of this thread yesterday when I passed the College of Piping in Glasgow and noticed it is adjoined by the Pipers Tryst Hotel. I looked them up on the web today. Don't know what they would charge but you could always ask:-
