Going on a first date in a kilt?
I have a chance to go on a date with a girl I really enjoy talking too. We meet through a friend from work, but she has only seen pictures of me not in a kilt. I wear a kilt all the time now. So I am a little worried about how she will react. This will be my first date in 4 years since my divorce. My question is, has anyone be on a first date kilted? Any advice would be a great help. Thanks

Here is my opinion, for what it's worth. Be who you are, stay honest with her.
If she doesn't like the kilt, will be an issue later anyways. If she is goodhearted goodspirited, she will like you for you, the kilt will never be an issue. Besides, never underestimate the power of the kilt... LOL

Since a mutual friend set this up, she probably already knows you wear kilts. Be yourself, go kilted and have fun!

I agree with peacekeeper. Be yourself, besides you don't wanna be someone your not just to impress a woman.
Relax and be yourself. Thats the best bet

First Date kilted...
As a teenager, I only wore the kilt to fancy events, with the family. One of my sister's girlfriends, asked me if I wouldn't mind taking out another of her friends from a neighboring town. I said sure, and got her number and called, set up the appointed time. Since she lived in a more upscale neighborhood than I, finer dress should be worn. As I was experiencing a rapid vertical growth, none of my trousers were within sight of my shoes. I decided to really dress up. on went a nice new white shirt, tie, diced hose, tie flashes, kilt, Argyle and waistcoat, highly polished shoes, sporran, belt, and Glenngarry. I checked out everything in the mirror and made sure that all the insignia matched. Adjusted the kilt to have the hem in perfect position. Drove to the young lady's home and pulled up so that the passenger door would be a straight walk from her front door. I then went to the door and rang the bell, with a little bit of worry as to how the family would view the boy that is taking out their daughter in a kilt. Soon all questions were answered when her father opened the door wearing his kilt! After a brief exchange of clan information, the young lass came into the foyer, and we were off on our date. The evening was grand and we returned to her home before the requested time by her father. When we got there, her parents welcomed me in with tea and a snack. Her mother was delighted to get time to talk. It sure was a good idea to go kilted.

My wife is a senior planner with a large environmental consulting firm. She mentioned that I wear a kilt. Many of the staff in her office request I wear my formal kilt to the winter company dinner. It was very positive.
The second year I again wore the kilt. Event was at a different hotel in downtown Sacramento CA. We entered the building (through the bar), went up the stairs and attended the party. Fairly soon the downstairs bartender came up with a large glass of scotch - a gift from several women sitting at the bar who appreciated and wanted to acknowledge me wearing the kilt.
I went down to thank them and spoke with them a while. They wanted to compliment and encourage my wearing my kilt. This drives home the standard of wearing a kilt properly and carrying yourself with confidence.

Total litmus test! I've never done a first date kilted, but I whole-heartedly encourage you to do so.

Well....since you ask....
Fasten your seat belt - its a WILD RIDE!!
I'm a 64-year-old kilted single guy. In the past four and 1/2 years since I started wearing kilts two long time platonic female friends have decided (their decision) to drop the platonic from a description of our relationship. Five former lady friends have decided come back around to renew fun times when they saw me kilted. And, I've met five new ladies who have only known me kilted who decided I was attractive enough to share fun times with. A few of these lovely ladies were your age....
This ain't no brag, its just flat out fact and fair warning to you lad. Ladies do swoon for men in kilts....
You're about half my age...no clue what you look like but I'll bet you're more attractive to the lassies than this olde bird....so be prepared for the best of times.
For the life of me I can't understand why every single man in the World isn't kilting up. There is absolutely no need to be lonely if you're a single male. Kilts are the solution to loneliness.
And if by chance your date is one of those ladies taken aback by kilts don't worry about it. There are a dozen more ladies out there who love kilts for every lady who can't quite wrap her mind around a man in a kilt.
Stand tall, walk proud, she'll let you know how she feels about kilts....

If she doesn't like the kilt and you love wearing it, I'd say it ain't a match made in heaven. Good luck!
